'Return of the Cybermen' Trailer

One of the first exciting things to come out from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con is this slightly extended trailer for the 2008 Doctor Who Christmas special. Hurrah!:

Look closely and you'll see at least one new type of Cyberman... I spotted a kind of chromey, rusty coloured one with odd head bars. Exciting!

A few other tit bits for those of you without the impulse to buy Doctor Who Magazine: apparently the actual title for this Christmas special won't be 'Return of the Cybermen' but something else entirely, which is apparently a bit spoilery. All RTD says is that it will have three words. Start pointless guessing... NOW.

Also, for those of you interested in next year's specials, there will be four (not including this year's Cyberfest) of the buggers, two of which written by RTD on his own, one written with Gareth 'LOOK AT ME I LIKE BOOKS' Roberts and another co-written with Phil 'I wrote the excellent Sarah-Jane episodes' Ford. If you want my guess, we'll be seeing he co-written episodes earlier in the year, with the two RTD-only episodes making up a two part Christmas 2009 special. Remember, you heard it guessed here not first!

It certainly suggests that they need more units and are adapting to the limited technology around them. Which, frankly, would be awesome. Steam powered Cybermen, plz!

‘Expensive Costume Re-use’

I have a sinking feeling the specials are gonna be crap. I officially think Tennant should have gone in Journey’s End. These hourlongs are just going to be retreads and bits of fluff before the new era begins. Roberts = Elizabeth I episode??

Anybody know whether the Cybermen in “our” dimension have the same history of origin (and design history) that they always had? I wonder whether the slightly different ones featured in this trailer might be the evolution of “our” Cybermen, rather than a variation on the ones we encountered in the second (of the new) series? They look ace, whatever they are.
