Bloody hell, that was unexpected! i was under the impression that the series hadn't done that well in the ratings, and was unlikely to be recommissioned, even for just a Christmas Special. (Maybe there's hope yet for Lab Rats, whose ratings were higher than that.) It's great news, for me anyway - the first series was a bit inconsistent, but when it hit it really hit.

What's also interesting is that the first series didn't have a studio audience - some laugh tracks were recorded by showing an audience the finished programmes, but even they were dropped for the final edit (and the last recording session cancelled). And, speaking as someone who loves laugh tracks - quite right too, as the show just wouldn't have suited one at all, So if this actually being shot in front of an audience, like the description suggests, we could be in for a slight change of format. (The description just mentions a load of old sketches, but that's hardly a surprise - it'll just go on what the previous series was like.)

If anyone pops along on Thursday - let us know what happens. Would it be too much to hope for that a Christmas Special means an old-style Christmas Special - and they're going to attempt the same kind of feeling evoked by Morecambe and Wise or The Two Ronnies? A pure guess, of course - but it'd fit in with Serafinowicz's obsessions with old telly, and there has to be a reason for an audience to be there...
