The Damned United
Frost/Nixon? Pah. Everyone knows that this is the Michael Sheen-starring biopic to get excited about.
While the trailer makes it look a bit too much like a feelgood cutesy British sports film, anyone familiar with Clough's life will know that the story of his time at Leeds (intercut with his time at Derby) is anything but. And if it's anywhere near close to the level of David Peace's magnificent novel, then it's clearly going to be the best football film ever made. Although, of course, by "best", I mean "only decent".
And that's without saying anything about Sheen's accent, which looks quite frankly spot on. Can't wait.

It’ll never be as good as Escape to Victory.
Anyway what about The Arsenal Stadium mystery? Gripping stuff.
> Is there anything Sheen can’t do??
He can’t be the 11th Doctor.

On second thoughts given the way it’s going, the actor to play the 12th Doctor probably hasn’t been born yet.
Mock The Week can have that one if they want.

I’ve seen Frost/Nixon and he basically owns it. I didn’t expect it to be more of a movie about Frost than it is about Nixon, but it definitely is. Yes, Frank Langella is great as Nixon (well, he’s good at doing a low voice that’s a bit like Nixon), but I would have given Michael Sheen the Best Actor nom above him. Of course, the Academy were never going to do that. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Michael picking up one of those little statues in the next few years.

Thanks to the Snow delaying my tram I ended up going to see Underworld 3 : Rise of the Lycans. Quite to my suprise I really enjoyed it. For a dark, fantasy slash-em-up it squeezed in a pretty decent plot and some real presence throughout as Sheen clashed with Bill Nighy. Is there a role Sheen can’t play convincingly?

Much lolz.

For the record, I watched Frost/Nixon last night and Sheen was AMAZING. Bodes very well for this film! Frost/Nixon is just beautiful, by the way, and I had the rare sensation of thinking that a £10 cinema ticket was actually value for money…
