Slightly behind the curve on this one, perhaps, but I’ve only just found out - Lab Rats has been cancelled. And for anyone thinking “no shit”, it’s worth pointing out that the ratings beat the (also excellent) Peter Serafinowicz Show, and that got a Christmas special last year.

I'm pretty damn upset by this. The series was mercilessly savaged by - it seemed - pretty much everyone, although I have a huge soft spot for it - I thought that winning "Worst New British TV Sitcom 2008" in the British Comedy Guide Awards was a particular injustice. See our reviews for what we thought of the series - it's certainly not perfect by any means, but it had some excellent moments, a lovely atmosphere, and with Episode 5 - A Seven Nighter - a genuinely great episode with one of the best sitcom climaxes I've seen in a long time. I think the series had a lot of promise.

Chris Addison - currently being fucking excellent in In The Loop, which you should all go and watch immediately if it's on near you - says that a DVD is possible. Let's hope so - it can slot nicely between my DVDs of Hippies and Respectable as "great series that really should have made it past six episodes, dammit". And any chance of having the unscreened pilot and a few commentaries included?
