It's the Peter Serafinowicz DVD!

… or, rather, it isn’t. At least not yet, anyway.

Because despite being one of the best sketch shows of the last decade, and although a DVD has been put together and is raring to go, the distributor is currently refusing to release it. So the man himself has requested that you help out, by pre-ordering or reviewing the DVD on Amazon. Do so and he’ll even thank you personally, because he’s nice like that.

And as if you needed one, here’s a reminder of why this series needs to be preserved for posterity…

Bloody distributors; they seem to have done for the Smith & Jones compliation (although we managed to get it from HMV, so worth looking to see if your local one still has it). Serafinowicz has been ordered, so hopefully I’ve helped in my small way…

Bastards. Well i’ve done my bit and i’ll get the rest of the band onto it today. Hopefully there will be enough support to help as it would be a crime for this not to be released.

In case Amazon UK doesn’t authorise my review, here it is for your viewing pleasure:

In 2007 I moved from the UK to the United States, and in doing so cheated myself out of the opportunity to watch the superbly funny Peter Serafinowicz Show when it aired in the UK during 2008. While the rest of my people were lapping up find cuisine in the form of top-notch impressions, first-rate comedy, and a third highly-rated thing, I was instead watching repeats of “Bridezilla!” on the Wedding Channel.

One year year, I am unemployed and struggling to make ends meet. Coincidence? Somehow I doubt it.

Serafinowicz, who has in no way promised to save me from the cash hole I have dug for myself in return for writing this review, is one of the finest comedy minds of our time. He is a superb writer, an above-average impressionist, a competent actor and a talented gardener. His saliva may have rejuvenative properties capable of healing fatal wounds. And what’s more, he could be anywhere and anyONE. Even YOU.

This DVD is filled with content I have never seen but nevertheless am assured is top-notch, first rate, third-thing stuff. A shame, then, that it may never be released because the FAT CATS at 4DVD are… well, I don’t know. Doing other things, presumably. But my point is this.

I caught the Peter Serawhathisface show at Christmas. It was the compliation and I thought it was very funny, particularly the Brian Butterfield bits.

If there was a problem with it, it looked like it was made for tuppence.

I’d certainly welcome a repeat or it being on iPlayer, but a DVD would stretch my credit crunched finances a tad…
