Complete Amazem-ant

- Shaun of the Dead co-writer Edgar Wright is adapting Ant-Man. Wright will direct and co-write the film version with Joe Cornish.
Anything new from Edgar Wright is cool, but Joe Cornish too?! Never in a million years would I have expected to see that name next to an Ant-Man film.
Given the love of the medium that these two guys have, any script by them will almost certainly be excellent, and let's face it, Ant-Man doesn't give you a lot to work with. With their involvement, I'm expecting that it'll be quite heavy on the comedy, which could upset the hardcore Ant-Man fans. Both of them. For a small (ha!) character like this, it's good to see that Marvel's willing to take the chance and give it to people who might be able to do something new and interesting with the character instead of the generic Hollywood molestation (Catwoman team, we're looking at you...)
The real question is where do we start placing our bets, the Hank Pym or Scott Lang version? Let's face it, the smart money has to be on Lang.

I'd bet on Scott Lang. There's too much baggage around Hank Pym, and too much potential to use him should there be any kind of Avengers film in years to come. Lang is a "safe" character, particularly if they decide to go a slightly more comedic route.
I can't get on the 'rama forums at work, but how old is that story? And has it been officially confirmed? I'm sure I heard Wright's name being linked with Ant-Man years ago, so (admittedly without reading the story) I'm wondering if this isn't just a recycling of old rumour...
Jon Favreau is doing Iron Man, though. Crazy.

It was posted today, appears to be taken from a Hollyword Reporter article about Marvel's film properties - mainly that John Favreau has signed up as director of Iron Man, but then this particular tidbit was in with the smaller updates about the Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Nick Fury films. Admittedly this is a long, long, long way from actually being made, but just the idea of Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright writing it is making me quiver with anticipation.
