Ninja... no, Hero... no, Ninja...

Awesome!

Looks like an interesting mix of the light-heartedness of the cartoon/Archie comics/movies, and the earnest, serious ninja-ness of the Mirage comics/recent TV series (and hopefully with no elements of The New Mutation whatsoever). Animation looks pretty decent, too.

I mean, it's hard not to think that the Turtles have long, long since had their day; but then, their recent animated series appears to have been quite successful, so maybe there is a new generation of fans waiting for this movie. As it is, though, if you're of a certain age (i.e. the age that can remember the words to "TURTLE Power"), it's hard not to raise a smile at this trailer...

UPDATE : There's a bit more info on the film (and where it fits into the TMNT "canon" - apparently, in Superman Returns fashion, it drops in somewhere around the second movie, building on that series' continuity), including character posters, on - *spit* - AICN.

About this entry

Comments

I'll tell you what I found amusing - that the original animation was done fairly cheaply, and yet when the TNNT presented an episode of I Love The 80s, they were rendered in *really* bad CGI - because the cheap way the original animation was done was still too expensive for the programme...

I used to watch TMMT anyway, but mainly so I could wank off over April. Oh dear. I suspect how she'll be rendered in this will give me more wank-fodder.

I like the CG style. And I get a huge kick out of imagining the pissed-off outbursts of so-called 'hardcore' 'purists' when Michaelangelo messes up in the trailer. Also, it's good to hear they're gonna focus on character work. As long as there aren't countless pop-culture reference gags I don't care. Should be good. Oh, and Raphael is definitely the coolest.

Michaelangelo is a party dude! It is possibly the greatest theme tune to anything. It's up there with Thundercats.

It's a shame that we got the wrong version, though. "Splinter taught them to be FIGHTING teens", indeed.

It scares me how I can remember almost all the words to the first verse of T.U.R.T.L.E. Power, though. But then, we did used to sing it in the playground all the bloody time.
