This isn't that weird, surely? Pegg was in MI3, JJ Abrams likes to reuse cast members from project to project, the rest of the cast (John Cho from Harold and Kumar, Sylar from Heroes, Leonard Nimoy) isn't exactly a-list and Scotty is basically comic relief anyway?
I don't really give a shit about Star Trek, but I'm quite interested in the information surfacing about this film. It sounds WEIRD as FUCK. Let's not forget this is the man who wanted Lex Luthor to be a Kryptonian CIA agent, or some fucking thing

To be honest, having read what I've read about his Superman script, I can understand why the Trekkies are apprehensive... seems like he's fine when he creates stuff, but doesn't know how to handle other people's.
But, we'll see. To be honest, I'm all about the PEGG PEGG PEGG, without considering whether or not he's actually RIGHT for it.

I think the Pegg has earned himself a place in geek-lore.
Go Pegg!
