Wii Wii
Wii? Wii?
What the fuck is "Wii"?
Never mind the fact that people have been calling the thing the "Revolution" for however many years... now you have to go and give it the worst name in the history of consoles? Not to mention one that also happens to be the name of a bodily function (and yes, according to the website, you pronounce it to rhyme with "wee")?
For fuck's sake, Nintendo!

Ahh, you beat me to it. My mouse was just hovering over "publish"...
I honestly can't fathom why Nintendo have decided to commit marketing suicide like this. What were they thinking?
I can hear the playground jokes already. "Do you want a 360, or do you want a Wii? Haha, you want a wee!", etc.

This is bullshit. If this name sticks I swear to god I'll reconsider my plan to buy one when it comes out.

How do you rhyme "wii" with "wee" without it *being* "wee"?

Hehe. The comments over at ign have been pretty funny. I actually don't mind it that much, but that's me, I know I'm going to buy it whatever it's called. The system itself is fucking fantastic. However, a lot of people are gonna be like 'what? excuse me?', including places like Game and other retailers. They supposedly chose it because it will be universally easy to pronounce and remember. Also, it refers to 'we' as in more than one person playing a game.
The fact that 'we' is used as a shortening of wiener (hehe, shortening of wiener...) in the United States of America will NOT help either. Nintendo are determined to kick up a controversial fuss, which could go one of two ways. It'll either backfire and be their death, or the mentalness of the name will raise the system's profile and it'll be a massive success. Obviously I would prefer the latter to happen, being a big Nintendo fan.

I think it's a good idea to have a name that's not obvious how to pronounce - makes it stick in the mind, but, yeah, this also sticks in the mind for a different reason....

NINTENDO HAS PASSED THE POINT OF EMBARRASMENT TO STUPIDITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey guyz u want a Wii Wii? seriously now dont get that gay ass system. Nintendo has disappointed me so many times and i think its best that nintendo just give up. The only game that i like from Nintendo is the zelda series and metriod prime and smash bros. Thats about the only good games for gamecube besides Resident Evil 4 and Eternal Darkness.
