"It's like a later Tom and Jerry, when the two of them could talk"

The best music video ever made, there.

I'd completely forgotten about that vid, having only seen it once or twice at the time (it wasn't a massive hit, despite being one of the best songs Jarvis has ever written), until I followed a link on Pitchfork just now. Marvellous.

(well, maybe not the best, as it's no Buddy Holly, for one thing. Still bloody fantastic, though.)

It is good, isn't it. But I reckon they missed a trick with the 'Stones since the '80s' line, they should have shown the fake Jagger at that point looking pissed off.

It's one of the few "DVD singles" I own.

Rather splendidly, on an American "Britpop"-y list that I used to frequent, someone once posted the following:

---
Thanks to whoever advised that "bad cover version" video and not CD has the
guest vocalists. How in the world did this take place? Was there a benefit or
charity involved? It reminds me so much of Band-Aid (and I think Elton John
and George Michael were in both projects). Were Pulp that huge that a plethora
of famous artists were willing to participate in the video? Is there a website
or list of all the stars in the video? I can't recognize several of them. It
doesn't look like the DVD has a "making of" documentary for this video.

But I just can't get over that all these famous stars would gather together
for a Pulp song. I know Pulp are big, but they just don't seem big enough for
this type of project.
---

Further prompting found out that he was being deadly serious. He didn't recognize the "Brian May" until it was explained to him.

Did it not occur to him that Kurt Cobain was there?

I'd never seen that video before. It was excellent. Ta, Seb!
