Sharing the misery...
So I did a quick search on YouTube because I wanted a friend of mine to see the music video for R.E.M.'s "I'll Take the Rain." It's a fantastic song, and a cute video.
But this came up as well. I thought...hmm...I like that song. And I typically enjoy solo acoustic versions of great songs...especially grandly produced ones like "I'll Take the Rain." They tend to strip it down to its core and reveal some emotion lost in the overdubs...
Being a subpar musician myself I try not to humuliate others, but Jesus Christ on a stick, this is fucking torture. If you can make it to the end you're a better man than I. I gave him until the first chorus. Then I killed myself.

I've seen a few other videos of this same guy.
No, he's not any better in those.

He's not actually playing "I'll Take The Rain", is he? He's playing a completely different song that just happens to have the same lyrics.
I can see why he's disabled ratings and comments, anyway...

Right, it doesn't sound anything like the music for I'll Take the Rain. Nor does the vocal melody. At all. Yet you can see him looking at the computer screen every few seconds, presumably for the chord changes.
So either he's looking at the least accurate tab in the world, or he has no idea how to read chord charts.

Oh god, I looked at his profile. He's recorded FOUR HUNDRED VIDEOS, which suggests he probably thinks he's pretty good.
I actually his guitar playing could be okay with a few lessons, the problem is he has absolutely no sense of timing and appears to be entirely tone deaf.
He's also attempted Strawberry Fields Forever:

He's like a Neil Young tribute gone seriously wrong.
REM are one of my favourite bands, I particularly like 'Document', 'Murmur', 'Monster' and 'Up', but 'I'll Take The Rain' is a select cut from the last two albums which haven't been up there with their usual greatness. 'Up' was brilliant but it's been downhill since, unfortunately.

I agree with monkey on this except that I wouldn't call Up brilliant.
Well, I'd call about half of it brilliant. Maybe slightly less than half. I actually thought Reveal was quite good.
Nowhere near as good as Monster, or Hi-Fi (or Green, or Automatic...) but it was at least consistant...and the songs that bother me just sort of slip past without my realizing they're there. A lot of Up just irritates me though, and I didn't even bother with Around the Sun...especially since die-hard REM fans are already pretending it doesn't exist...

If only Wes Anderson had seen crispeater...he could have had Seu Jorge's role in The Life Aquatic.

Just to present an alternative to the madness: here is an incredibly talented individual, who really highlights some of the incredible bass lines that Paul provided for The Beatles. Seriously, I'm amazed at the intricacy of some of them myself, even as a fan of Paul's bass playing.

I only wish this "talentless hack" Crispeater would stop wasting bandwidth with his "music" for lack of a better word. He has posted 350+ videos on YouTube, all with comments and ratings disabled. Any musician who cannot take critique, will never be a musician, but then again, that is probably his goal.

What might make Crispeater's videos much more entertaining would be, at the end of, or near the end of every song, his Mommy opens up the door and smacks him in the head with a random household item (i.e: Telephone book, ironing board, IRON, small vase, purse, or the always popular 10-12" frying pan/skillet for that melodic "clanging" sound.)
It would not be much trouble to do it, for one look at him, and you know he lives, and always will live with his mommy.

For all I know that happens at the end of every video. I have yet to sit through even one of them.
And you've GOT to check out the instrumentals. As if strumming aimlessly through a proper song he barely knows isn't bad enough, you now get to see him strumming aimlessly with no direction at all or any end in sight, changing chords completely at random, and probably wearing leather pants. I'm glad the last item there has yet to be confirmed.

Well, if this one ain't Crispeater's worst, it's pretty damned close.

BTW, it's dedicated to his "girlfriend", whom he calls, of all names, Layla!

Holy barf. That was brutal.
Despite its horribleness, does that in fact qualify as a serenade?
