Aw, bollocks.
Anthony H Wilson, the man who founded the 'Madchester' music scene in Manchester and helped made the city a centre of musical talent, has died, aged 57. I'd be rubbish at trying to write an obituary, so here's a list of other people's efforts:

I'll put links to the papers' efforts tomorrow. RIP.

Gone way way before his time. Very sad indeed.

There will be a screening of 24-Hour Party People at my house tonight.
Y'know. If anyone wants to bring it...

Coogan does a decent job in that film.
Incidentally, Saxondale series 2 starts in a couple of weeks.

I was only able to see the first four episodes of Saxondale before Youtube pulled them. Shame, because every single one I saw was better than the last. The one in which his daughter came to visit was very funny and very painful. I thought it was excellent.
(Insert debate about copyright infringement and all the DVDs I ended up buying because someone had posted the episodes illegally, without which happening I wouldn't even had known they existed...)
I'm dying for the DVD release because I want to see the rest of the episodes. Still haven't seen a projected date, though. Maybe if Coogan only plans on doing one more series he'll just release them all in one big box at the end.
