Ever wonder what would really happen if you attempted to purchase a product or service by responding to spam emails?

I admit, I've been curious, myself. Not curious enough to overcome my natural caution, mind you, but somebody's gone and done it for us, and documented the process. Interesting stuff.

Indeed. He sure could do with some tips on how to tell a story, though. It needs more, well, vim.

I thought that, actually. Decent enough idea, but the article itself didn't really sparkle. No 419 Eater, that's for sure...

I agree it could use a stylistic kick up the ass, but I am kind of glad he went for more documenting the process than writing it hilariously. It's an interesting topic and not one I've ever really seen explored with any real depth before.

I'm not saying a few good laughs wouldn't have helped...but there are times that the comedy sort of dictates the result (a lot of the 419 archives are guilty of this) and you lose sight of the process completely.

There CAN be a balance, but in the absence of that balance, I'd probably choose informative over uproarious.

Just felt the need to post this very recent 419 eater entry...

I have to admit I've never seen any better result of scam baiting than managing to get the scammer to record himself reading the entire text of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
