Handwatch!
So, Deal or No Deal's back. Hurrah! Monday's game was a bit of a damp squib, but Tuesday's and Wednesday's were absolutely superb. Go and download them if you didn't catch them, like if you're one of those people with so-called 'jobs'.
But anyway, more observant/anal/autistic viewers will have noticed that during the last few months of the first run, Noel would draw different little symbols on his hand every day. These were visible whenever he was on the phone to the Banker, and speculation was rife about what they could mean. When he was on Parky, Noel gave some bollocks about "cosmic ordering", but you could tell from the glint in his eye that he was hiding something.
And in the first three editions of the new run, the symbols have been "www", "red" and "box". Well, expect today's to be "club", as in www.redboxclub.com! OK, the prize isn't spectacular by the looks of things (you could probably get all that anyway just by asking), but it's a great idea. Typical Edmonds really - say what you like about him, he's always been innovative. Unfortunately, there's not a chance in hell that I'd be able to crack the code...

I won't hear a word said against Edmonds - in a presenting capacity, anyway.
Like I've said before - Noel's House Party got ridiculous viewing figures, but very few people admit to liking it now. Well: I loved it. It was great. He's a great presenter, and the NHP (for the first half of its life, anyway) was wonderful, entertaining, innovative television.

I also liked Noel's House Party. Someone we vaguely knew (by 'vague' I mean they lived a few doors down from my nan...) was on NTV, although they were one of the crap ones where they just sat there stone-faced even though they were live in front of millions. No show could get those ratings now.
I remember Neil Morrissey used to play this stupid window cleaner character, I don't know how they got away with stuff like that and Blobby. Although I think Blobby would have been more fondly remembered if they hadn't milked him/it to death and just kept him in those original Gotchas where Noel would don the suit and annoy a celebrity. The Gotchas were the first time I remember celebrities being setup like that or been shown up as being so desperate they'd do anything for TV/radio. What was that recent Ch4 show where they'd offer total z-listers like Sid Owen and Sam Fox stupid TV show ideas along the lines of Partridge's inner-city sumo and monkey tennis and see if they'd accept?

I liked it, along with pretty much everything else Noel Edmonds has done on TV and radio. I still don't really understand why he's apparently so universally loathed by so many people, other than it suddenly seemed to be the 'in' thing to hate him.

I liked NHP enough when I was a kid, but these days I'd rather take my own life than watch anything with him as a presenter. It's not just him, though, he's not actually any more annoying than most of his contemporaries. You either like a certain type of TV, or you don't. It doesn't help that he acts like a smug high-concept post-modern bastard these days, though, because I remember when the high point of his TV show was when some wanker ended up getting covered in gunge.
Actually, even back in the day I used to have this hope that one day I'd be watching House Party and find myself on NTV, and that I'd then get the chance to tell him to fuck off live on air, so maybe I wasn't that much of a fan after all...
