Huzzah! It's Official!
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is - at long last - released on DVD this coming Monday, 16th October.
After two years or so of bouncing publication dates I know it's going to happen for sure this time because they actually trailered it just after the repeat of episode 3 at stupid o'clock on Tuesday morning on Channel 4. My advance order has already been placed with Amazon, and you should order it too, because it will make you laugh until snot comes out of your nose. Fact.
And as if that weren't good news enough, the sort-of-follow-up 'Man to Man With Dean Learner' starts next week on Channel 4 on Friday at 11.05pm. Obviously I can't say for sure that it will be as snot-nosedly amusing as 'Darkplace' but as it is written, directed by and stars the two people responsible for 'Darkplace' I thnk it's a fairly safe bet that it will be at least faintly amusing.

How come no-one tells me these things?!?!
Oddly enough, I was just thinking of this series a few days ago.

Darkplace fans who aren't me.... *blinks repeatedly*
There is a DVD signing this coming Monday at 6pm in the Virgin Megastore, Piccadilly Circus.
- Signing will be Garth Marenghi, Dean Learner and Todd Rivers (an in-character signing?)
Anyhow if you fancy going let us know because I'm buggered if I wanna go by my lonesome.

I'd be there like a shot. If I didn't live 200-odd miles away.
Bugger.

For the idiots who haven't seen Darkplace yet, you can even view the entire first episode online, for free.

Just got back from the signing. Someone at Virgin in there infinite wisdom decided leaving the Darkplace theme music on repeat 45 times whilst people queued was a good idea. Still they eventually stuck 'Back in Black' on - which was nice.
It took a full 3 hours for me to get to the front and from the size of remaining queue when I left it looked like it would be at least another hour or so.
To their credit Matthew, Matt and Rich remained in character throughout. The store also seemed to run short of Darkplace DVD's. So I think the event can be classed very much as a success and will hopefully raise the profile of future Holness/Ayoade projects.
....and no Ian I didn't call him a cunt.
