Life On Mars - Spin Off?
The Mirror online has posted news today of a possible spin-off to Life On Mars, to be shown in 2008. As the article contains potential spoilers for the next series of Life On Mars, it follows under the link.
The article can be found here:

If you can't be arsed to link to it, it basically says that there'll be a sequel called 'Ashes to Ashes' and that details of who will feature in it are being kept quiet so as not to spoil the end of series 2 of Life On Mars.
BBC1 head Peter Fincham is quoted as saying: "We're thrilled to have this spin-off in development. IIt will be more Miami Vice than The Sweeney. Hopefully we'll have several main characters rolling their sleeves up for us."
Of course, it being The Mirror, it could all prove to be a load of old horlicks, but I did already hear from a reliable source that John Simm didn't want to do any more series of Life On Mars - hence it ending after series 2 - and it would make sense for the producers/writers to make a sequel featuring Philip Glenister if he's up for it. Would Simm make a guest appearance, I wonder? I guess that all depends on just how series 2 of Life on Mars ends. All quite intriguing, if it's true...

I think aspin-off featuring Phil Glenister would be fantastic, for a lot of people Gene Hunt was far more the load man than Sam Tyler. The alpha male wins again (hopefully!)

Urg. What a terrible idea that is. I'm really pleased they've said no. Surely it makes infinitely more sense to get good American actors?

Careful Cappsy, the quotes in that piece are taken from Simm's interview on the Chris Moyles show. I'd hate you to endorse a FUCKING BRILLIANT RADIO SHOW by mistake. :-)

Are you trying to stir up another Chris Moyles discussion, Andrew? ;)
Anyway, I'm not too fussed by him, really. I don't like him, but I wouldn't go out of my way to constantly have a go at him.

Heh. Damn, you got me. :-)
I hate 'news' articles that go for a headline grab that way, though - as if they got an exclusive interview, as opposed to tuning in with 8 million other listeners.

Apparently they are getting Irish actors for the roles in the US version now
