Excellent Futurama news...
How much of the original cast and crew were you able to put together?
DAVID X. COHEN: We have the entire cast back, as well as a good chunk of the writing staff. We also have Rough Draft Studios animating once again, and they seem determined to top even their own amazing work from the first time around. To complete the reunion of our original crack team, it looks like we will also have Chris Tyng back to work his magic on the musical score.
From a pretty short but very whistle-whetting interview at Toyfare. Same cast, same writers, same animators, same original score composer and a new, tighter focus on series continuity. Honestly, now, is there any reason not to look forward to Futurama's return?

Was there ever any reason not to look forward to more Futurama? Seriously, now. If you haven't had at least one wet dream at the thought of new Futurama, you should see a medical professional as soon as possible.

As long as it's as far away from recent Simpsons as possible it'll be good. I say 'recent' but, for fuck's sake, it's been like ten years since a great episode.

The more I think about it, the more the cancellation could, potentially, end up being the best thing that could happen to Futurama. Now they know there's every chance this could be fleeting. The first time around I think everyone went into it thinking, "We can do anything. We made The Simpsons. We'll be on as long as we want to be on."
Now that they're getting a second shot at life on the air, I think the Futurama crew will take it much more seriously, as you can tell in the above interview. They realize their good fortune to be back, and they're going to make the next batch of episodes as damn fine as is humanly possible.
Potentially, I say, only because I fear getting my hopes up too high...especially this soon in the game. But...damn...doesn't it just seem like everything's just going to go right?
