Yes, him playing the Master would be brill. But I have a horrible feeling he'll be a good guy and they'll cast someone young to play the Master, about the same age as Tennant.
BILL NIGHY TO PLAY THE DOCTOR NEXT PLEASE.
By which I mean "to play the doctor next", not: "to play the doctor. Next please".
He isn't the Master, let's just get that out of the way shall we? There's more chance of him being a surgeon/doctor in the finale with the Time Lords in the hospital beds. Although it says he's a 'professor' so who knows...
If they can bring back daleks from cracks in the hole of spacetime and cybermen from a parallel universe then it's only a matter of time until they bring back time lords from Gurnsey.
But "Mister Saxon" is an anagram of "Master No. Six"...
1. Roger Delgado
2. Geoffrey Beevers
3. Roger Delgado
4. Eric Roberts
5. Erm, well, it could be the bloke from the start of the TVM, or it could be the bloke from The Deadly Assassin. Either way, one of them definitely counts, but not both or neither, because otherwise the whole thing could just be written off as pointless fan speculation. Which of course it isn't. At all. Unless Eric Roberts is coming back, because if you include everyone, he IS Master No. 6.
Fantastic news if it's true, and it would perhaps explain why Simm's leaving Life on Mars (his decision to depart being the reason there's only one more series coming). I'd love it if it turns out that Jacobi's character is the Master in human form or something, then he "gets back his regenerative cycle" (as posited on OG) and regenerates into Simm...
The following is shamelessly nicked from a poster on OG, but it made me chuckle so I had to repeat it :
Does this mean that the Face of Boe's message will be:
"will play another Who foe — The Professor. He poses as a good guy but the Doctor (David Tennant) discovers the truth when The Professor dies and regenerates. "
Annoying that they said this. Some secrets are worth keeping. PS this is what I thought would be happening with Captain Jack. I thought Captain Jack was the Master. Professor is what Ace called the Doctor back in the day.
"The Master’s return will be the major twist of the third series, which starts in the spring. But he will not appear until the end. "
And again. "Major twist" ruined, there. And potential climax information given away. Not long ago I was pondering whether Norman Lovett might somehow be about to play Davros.
1. Roger Delgado
2. Peter Pratt then Geoffrey Beevers
3. Roger Delgado
4. Eric Roberts
5. Erm, well....
Soz mate, thought id mention Peter Pratt played master number 2 then Geoffrey Beavers later. though tecnically the same incarnation. so Yep, this master will be master number six
This may also be bogus but I think either wikipedia or gallifreyone has The Face of Boe's words as being "You are not alone." which makes sense as RTD has stated that they are four words which will change the Doctors life and considering the last ep is called 'Last of the Time Lords' seems like a dead give away to me.
It is a shame that the Sun - as usual has got hold of this info early.
Well, they say he's going to be a "good guy", but they could very easily be lying out of their BBC teeth.
Either way, this is fucking brilliant casting news.

Remember, only the Mirror have said he's playing a goodie - all the BBC have confirmed is his casting, nothing else.
Whatever happens, though (and I'm not sure I really believe we'll see the Master any time soon), this is exciting stuff!

"The Doctor"... "The Professor"
Perhaps another time lord?

Sorry it can't be - I have spent an hour carefully rearranging the letters and Professor is not an anagram.
